Styles of Yoga
At Yoga Bindu, you can practice two primary styles of yoga:
Hatha Yoga is a combination of postures, breathing exercises and other techniques to promote flexibility, build strength, reduce stress, and bring the body, mind, and spirit into balance.
Kundalini is an intense physical practice to stimulate the nervous system and bring deeper awareness of the body's electromagnetic field.
Class Descriptions
Beginning Hatha is basic, gentle, and slow-paced. Good for anyone new to yoga, those with special concerns or injuries, and seniors. Includes meditation and pranayama.
Gentle Beginning Hatha is a great class to unwind. The emphasis is on pranayama and meditation with slow, easy asanas to support the breathing exercises. If you've never done yoga, if you like an easy-does-it style, or if you like more time for meditation and pranayama, this is for you.
Pranayama & Restoratives is calming breath exercises and postures done with the support of props to deeply, yet gently, relax the body and mind.
Kundalini is an intense practice to stimulate the nervous system and bring deeper awareness of the body's electromagnetic field. Includes meditation and pranayama.
All Levels is an eclectic combination of yoga styles that is suitable for all student levels. Includes meditation and pranayama.
Levels 1 & 2 are moderately paced classes that focus on proper alignment and breathing. Asanas are held for longer periods of time (2+ minutes) that may include inversions and other challenging postures. Includes meditation and pranayama.
Flow is series of poses linked through sun salutations to bring heat and purify the body and mind. Includes meditation and pranayama.
Power Yoga is about developing internal strength through a rigorous dynamic yoga practice. Power yoga combines Vinyasa flow sequences with strength-building yoga poses designed to open up and strengthen areas of the body that get restricted and tight (such as the lower back, hips, shoulders, and hamstrings). This class is perfect for athletes or those wanting a work-out in their yoga practice.
Yin Yoga postures are held for several minutes. These passive postures, which primarily target the hips and spine, help enhance the health of the connective tissues and joints, and promote the flow of energy through the body.
Ashtanga Yoga is in the family of Krishnamacharya yoga, the type of hatha yoga practiced at Yoga Bindu. It is the father of vinyasa, or flow, or power yoga classes. Ashtanga is a set series of postures performed in a methodical and meditative manner, with ujjayi breath as a fuel and a mindfulness technique. It's an excellent way to start your day the yoga way!
